About the role#
We are hiring two Geotechnical Engineering interns to join our team in San Jose or Alameda, California. This is a paid, full-time position available for Summer 2027, with potential opportunities during the Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 terms. You will work on-site alongside our geotechnical staff engineers on various construction and evaluation projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform geotechnical field evaluations and construction observation.
- Assist with geotechnical subsurface evaluations and engineering calculations.
- Document construction phase observations and prepare reports.
- Support our in-house laboratory operations.
- Help Principal engineers with project-related tasks.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Civil or Geotechnical Engineering Bachelor's or Master's degree program.
- Junior or Senior standing if you are an undergraduate student.
- Completed coursework in soil mechanics, engineering geology, or foundation engineering.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical information.
- Strong communication skills.
- A valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment on occasion.

- Locations: San Jose or Alameda, California (San Jose is preferred).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $20-$25 per hour, based on qualifications.
- Note: We do not provide housing assistance. You must live within commuting distance of the office. We do not provide visa sponsorship for full-time employment following the internship.
