About the role#
Society Insurance is hiring an Accounting Intern for the Summer 2027 term. This full-time position supports our Finance team with daily accounting operations and project work. You will work from our corporate office in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, with hybrid and remote scheduling options available.
What you'll do#
- Handle daily remittance scanning, verify reports, prepare cash envelopes, and update the database.
- Assist with the bi-weekly accounts payable process, including coding invoices to general ledger accounts, setting up new vendors, and posting payments.
- Reconcile bank statements and balance the daily claims check register.
- Prepare journal entries, perform bank reconciliations, and validate monthly reports for financial statements.
- Manage daily incoming mail, distribute bills, and mail refund and dividend checks.
- Prepare and distribute salvage and subrogation copies.
- Assist with the unclaimed property process and other Finance department projects.
- Provide backup and general assistance to the Accounting department.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- Foundational knowledge of accounting topics.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- Ability to multitask, stay organized, and practice active listening.
- A 3.0 or better cumulative GPA is preferred.
- Preference for candidates who have completed at least one accounting course.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, email software, internet tools, and Accounts Payable/Receivable systems is preferred.
