About the role#
Society Insurance is seeking a Claims Intern to join the team for the Summer 2027 term. This paid, full-time position offers hands-on experience within the workers' compensation department. You will assist with daily operations, complete assigned projects, and participate in cross-functional activities across the company.
What you'll do#
- Manage and produce documentation for claims files.
- Start new claims by verifying coverage and entering data into systems.
- Authorize payments on medical bills and fees.
- Build knowledge of the workers' compensation system by attending investigations and hearings.
- Research and analyze data to prepare reports.
- Review cost containment methods like medical exams and record reviews.
- Participate in marketing and underwriting functions.
- Support event planning by attending trade shows and assisting with setups.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program in a business-related field.
- Junior or senior collegiate status.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Prior office experience is preferred.
