About the role#
Skidmore College Dining Services is seeking a full-time Student Employment and Office Coordinator to manage departmental financial operations and a student employment program of approximately 400 individuals. This role requires independent judgment and the ability to support fiscal management through accurate record keeping, payroll administration, and accounts payable processes. This is a 35-hour per week position with occasional overtime during peak periods.
What you'll do#
- Coordinate and administer the student employment program, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, attendance tracking, and conflict resolution.
- Manage all student payroll functions throughout the academic year and summer.
- Conduct orientation meetings for new and returning student staff.
- Oversee the hiring and training process for Student Supervisors and Office Supervisors.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing, billings, and reconciling pass card transactions.
- Assist with departmental budget tracking, reporting, and maintenance of financial records.
- Support the onboarding process for full-time union staff and summer employees.
- Maintain office operations, including equipment maintenance, supply management, and digital signage updates.
- Track departmental records, such as accident reports, leave hours, and attendance.
- Ensure compliance with collective bargaining agreements and college policies.
What you'll need#
- Associate degree or equivalent (four-year degree preferred).
- 2-4 years of experience in office-related work, including at least one year of payroll and record keeping.
- Experience in a college or university setting is preferred.
- Proficiency with computer software and the ability to adapt to new programs.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and listening skills.
- Ability to speak publicly and address large groups of students.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
