About the role#
The Transmitter is looking for a science reporting intern to join our newsroom in New York City for the winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position that requires a minimum of 32 hours per week. You will work on-site from January to May 2027. This role is designed for a beginning science journalist to gain experience covering neuroscience and build a portfolio of published work.
What you'll do#
- Pitch, report, and write news articles for The Transmitter.
- Perform other duties or tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor's degree, preferably in a scientific discipline.
- A background or strong interest in neuroscience, genetics, cognition, and behavior.
- Familiarity with and adherence to journalistic ethics.
- Graduate journalism coursework is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is located at 915 Broadway in New York, New York.
- The internship runs from January to May 2027.
- Compensation is $20 to $25 per hour, depending on your degree level.
