About the role#
Quanta Magazine is seeking an early-career science journalist for a six-month writing fellowship. This program provides hands-on experience covering physics, mathematics, biology, and computer science. You will work directly with our editorial team to develop your skills as a reporter and writer. By the end of the term, you will have a portfolio of published work and a clear understanding of digital science journalism standards.
What you'll do#
- Pitch, report, and write news articles.
- Assist editors with research and fact-checking.
- Work with art and production teams on research, illustrations, and infographics.
- Create content for social media and newsletters.
- Help develop and produce video and podcast projects.
- Handle other tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- A bachelor’s degree.
- A strong interest in or background covering complex topics in physics, mathematics, biology, or computer science.
- Familiarity with journalistic style and standards.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid position at $29 per hour.
- The fellowship is based on-site at the Simons Foundation offices in New York City.
- The term runs from January through June 2027.
