About the role#
This is a 12 to 16 month internship position based in Ottawa. You will join the Signal Integrity Products group to work on high-performance optical networking platforms. We integrate interns directly into our team, providing hands-on tasks that grow in complexity as you learn. You will receive mentorship and guidance from senior packaging engineers throughout your term.
What you'll do#
- Design IC chip carriers for electronic components and pluggable modules.
- Use advanced CAD tools to support circuit layout of mini-panels, focusing on high density and high speed transmission lines.
- Work on physical assembly design and mechanical outlines.
- Assist signal integrity experts by generating layouts for 3D electromagnetic simulations and thermo-mechanical analysis.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Experience with electrical card design tools like Cadence Allegro or Keysight ADS.
- Experience with mechanical design tools such as Autocad, Draftsight, or Solidworks.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- A strong interest in teamwork.
- Familiarity with advanced electronic manufacturing, frequency analysis, analog circuit fundamentals, or tolerance analysis is an asset.
