About the role#
The Cooperative Education Student assists the Accounting and Accounts Payable team. You will produce reports, work papers, and documentation to help ensure the company follows accounting controls, practices, and procedures.
What you'll do#
- Calculate and prepare journal entries for interest expense accruals and reconcile them with invoices.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and handle account maintenance requests.
- Prepare transmission facility use charges and miscellaneous billings.
- Prepare, review, and distribute management reports during the general ledger closing process.
- Support the preparation of periodic financial reports.
- Review purchased power invoices and post expenses or accruals to the general ledger.
- Process daily bank reconciliations.
- Assist with general ledger account reconciliations.
- Confirm accounts payable payments with new vendors.
- Scan, process, and archive vendor invoices and accounts payable documentation.
- Perform NERC Compliance Program roles as designated.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Accounting.
- Minimum of six credit hours per semester and a 2.75 GPA.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical thinking, planning, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail and a conscientious, professional approach.
- Valid driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
