About the role#
Schnabel Engineering is hiring a full-time Civil Engineering intern for the summer of 2027. This role focuses on building practical skills by applying engineering principles to real projects under the guidance of senior staff. You will work on a variety of tasks that bridge the gap between office planning and field execution.
What you'll do#
- Observe geotechnical subsurface exploration and perform infiltration testing.
- Conduct construction observation and materials testing at job sites.
- Perform laboratory testing.
- Create basic plans and figures using AutoCAD and GIS.
- Assist engineers in the preparation of geotechnical proposals and reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s program for Civil Engineering.
- A valid U.S. driver’s license.
- Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to pass a background check and a pre-employment drug screening.
Location & details#
- This position is based on-site in Charlottesville, Virginia.
- The internship runs from May through August 2027.
- Some travel may be required.
