About the role#
This summer internship offers hands-on experience in field operations and project coordination. You will work directly with project managers, superintendents, foremen, and crews to learn how heavy-highway and private development projects come together. This is a paid, full-time position based in Columbia Falls, Montana.
What you'll do#
- Work alongside crews on active construction sites.
- Assist foremen and superintendents with daily field operations.
- Support layout, grade checking, measurements, and daily reporting.
- Review project plans and specifications to help with quantities and documentation.
- Track labor, equipment, materials, and production costs.
- Help coordinate materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities.
- Support planning, purchasing, deliveries, and project closeout tasks.
- Observe project sequencing and crew leadership.
What you'll need#
- At least one year of college completed in civil engineering, construction management, surveying, or a related field.
- A willingness to work hard, listen, and learn.
- Strong math, computer, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Capability to travel and work extended hours when the job requires it.
- A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
