About the role#
We are looking for an Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern to help maintain a safe workplace for our team. You will support the development and implementation of EHS programs across our engineering labs, manufacturing spaces, shipyards, and maritime testing sites. This role involves working with engineering, operations, and facilities teams to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist in developing and maintaining EHS policies, procedures, and training materials.
- Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments in labs, manufacturing areas, and field test environments.
- Support incident reporting, root cause analysis, and corrective action tracking.
- Help maintain OSHA documentation, safety data sheets, and chemical inventories.
- Assist with environmental compliance programs for air, water, hazardous materials, and waste management.
- Collaborate with engineering teams on safe design and testing practices.
- Track and analyze EHS performance data.
- Support internal audits, emergency drills, and management system improvements.
- Perform research projects and draft programming requirements to provide guidance to stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science and Management, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
- Interest in manufacturing, robotics, maritime systems, or defense technology.
- Basic knowledge of OSHA standards, hazard identification, and risk mitigation.
- Familiarity with hazardous materials management and environmental regulations.
- Experience with lab, manufacturing, or field safety practices.
- Experience with EHS reporting or compliance software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 (May through August).
- The role is based on-site at our headquarters in Austin, Texas.
- This position requires access to export-controlled information, which necessitates U.S. Person status.
