About the role#
The Strategic Advisory Services group provides commercial, financial, and market advice to utilities, power project developers, investors, and technology companies. As an intern, you will support assignments involving energy infrastructure, project development, asset transactions, and strategic planning. This is a paid, full-time summer 2027 internship based in Chicago.
What you'll do#
- Support due diligence and strategic assessments for power and energy infrastructure projects.
- Build and maintain financial models for business cases, capital investments, and asset transactions.
- Research energy markets, power generation technologies, battery energy storage, and transmission topics.
- Evaluate project economics, risks, opportunities, and key assumptions.
- Synthesize findings into client-ready materials including presentations, executive briefings, and white papers.
- Organize and analyze project data using Excel and other analytical tools.
- Collaborate with technical subject matter experts and senior consultants to communicate results to clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an MBA or Master's degree program in Engineering, Finance, Economics, or a related field. MBA candidates must complete their first year before the internship begins.
- Rising seniors pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field who have completed at least six semesters.
- Minimum overall GPA of 3.0.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Experience or coursework in power systems, renewable energy, battery energy storage, nuclear, thermal generation, or transmission.
- Familiarity with analytical or data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Python, or SQL.
- Previous internship, co-op, or consulting project experience.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Modality: This position follows a hybrid schedule and requires in-office work three days per week.
