About the role#
The Quality Systems Engineer Intern supports the Quality department by assisting with quality improvement projects, process standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role works closely with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations, to improve manufacturing processes while ensuring compliance with quality, customer, and safety requirements. This is a paid, full-time internship position.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the development, revision, and standardization of Quality Management System (QMS) documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and visual aids.
- Support the creation and maintenance of PFMEA, Control Plans, process flow diagrams, and related quality documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement projects focused on process standardization, waste reduction, defect prevention, and operational efficiency.
- Assist with internal quality audits, audit preparation, corrective action follow-up, and audit documentation.
- Support quality data collection, performance reporting, and the maintenance of equipment calibration records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify process improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Assist with inspection method development and the review of customer specifications.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and manufacturing specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001), PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma is preferred.
- Experience with software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Power BI, Minitab, or GageTrak is considered an asset.
