About the role#
The Quality Systems Engineer Intern supports the Quality department by assisting with daily quality assurance, process standardization, and continuous improvement activities. This role works closely with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to improve processes, conduct root cause investigations, and ensure compliance with safety and quality requirements.
What you'll do#
- Develop, revise, and standardize Quality Management System (QMS) documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and visual aids.
- Support the creation of process documentation such as PFMEA, Control Plans, and process flow diagrams.
- Assist with internal quality audits, audit preparation, corrective action follow-up, and documentation.
- Participate in quality improvement projects focused on waste reduction, defect prevention, and operational efficiency.
- Collect quality data and prepare reports, metrics, and performance dashboards.
- Support calibration activities, equipment records, and inspection method development.
- Collaborate with team members to identify process improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Materials, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical documentation, and manufacturing specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work both independently and within a team.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Power BI, Minitab, or GageTrak is a plus.
