About the role#
The Sports Reporter assists the Sports Editor in producing content for The Xavierite. This position is a student employment opportunity that focuses on developing professional skills including communication, teamwork, and technical proficiency. You will work as a member of the Student Media Sports Committee to ensure the publication remains current.
What you'll do#
- Write one to two sports stories for every issue, totaling one to two articles per week.
- Maintain four hours of office time per week at The Xavierite office.
- Attend general staff meetings and meet weekly with the Section Editor.
- Assist with the layout of the sports section.
- Keep the website updated with new material.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Saint Xavier University.
- Federal Work Study eligibility.
- A resume and cover letter included with your application.
- Academic background or interest in journalism, communications, or English is preferred.

- Location: 3700 W. 103rd Street, Chicago, Illinois.

- Compensation: 17.05 USD per hour.
