About the role#
The Associate Dean for Advising and Student Development serves a central role in the Student Success Center. This position involves overseeing the advising program, coordinating outreach for advisors, and mentoring student success staff. The Associate Dean acts as a senior advisor for a cohort of students and collaborates across the college to support retention and student development initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Oversee the College Advising Program to develop and enhance advising quality.
- Coordinate the academic outreach system and work with faculty to provide student support.
- Serve as a primary success advisor for an assigned cohort, including students on academic probation.
- Advise students regarding violations of the Academic Integrity Policy and attend hearings as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Registrar and the Dean of Undergraduate Education to assist with degree planning and registration for incoming and transfer students.
- Partner with campus offices, including Athletics, Accessibility, Health and Counseling, and Student Financial Services, to support student success.
- Promote an environment that values cultural, ethnic, gender, and individual differences.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in undergraduate advising, with senior advising or supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to think analytically and sympathetically about the needs of a diverse student body.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
- Relevant academic backgrounds include Psychology, Sociology, Communications, Human Resources, or Business Administration.
