The Associate Dean for Advising and Student Development serves a central role in the Student Success Center. This position focuses on enhancing the quality of advising across the college, mentoring student success advisors, and supporting a cohort of students. The role requires balancing empathetic individual student support with institutional goals, policies, and retention initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Oversee the College’s Advising Program to support, develop, and enhance advising quality.
- Serve as a primary success advisor for an assigned cohort of students, including those on academic probation.
- Coordinate the academic outreach system and collaborate with faculty to manage student support and response.
- Advise students on violations of the Academic Integrity Policy and participate in hearings as needed.
- Partner with the Registrar and the Dean of Undergraduate Education to assist with student degree planning, registration, and support for incoming and transfer students.
- Collaborate across departments, including Athletics, Health and Counseling Services, and Student Financial Services, to promote student success.
- Foster an environment that values cultural, ethnic, gender, and individual differences.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in undergraduate advising; senior advising or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
- Ability to think analytically, creatively, and sympathetically regarding the needs of a diverse student body.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

- Location: Colchester, Vermont.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Employment type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $73,000 – $81,000.
