About the role#
As a Volunteer Engagement Intern, you will support our efforts to recruit, onboard, and retain volunteers. You will work closely with the Volunteer and Development Manager to manage volunteer records, coordinate service projects, and plan appreciation events. This role helps ensure our volunteers have the resources and support they need to contribute to our mission.
What you'll do#
- Create and update email templates for onboarding, activity scheduling, and general communication.
- Assist in planning and sending volunteer newsletters.
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, including activity hours, role descriptions, and policies.
- Generate monthly volunteer statistic reports.
- Support recruitment efforts, including presentations and outreach to community partners.
- Research and update onboarding resources and presentations.
- Welcome and assist volunteer groups during service projects at our facilities.
- Plan and implement ongoing service opportunities and appreciation events.
What you'll need#
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Public speaking experience is a plus.
- Ability to relate to others in a friendly and non-judgmental manner.
- Self-motivation and the ability to prioritize tasks independently.
- Comfort working in group settings and leading projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Willingness to learn our volunteer management software, POINT.
- A valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation for internship-related travel.
Location & details#
- This internship is based in Greenville, South Carolina, with occasional travel to locations in Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens Counties.
- The role requires a minimum of 6 hours per week during business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm), plus some evening and weekend hours.
- This is an unpaid, part-time position for the Winter 2027 term.
