About the role#
As a Development Intern, you will support donor communications, stewardship, and the execution of fundraising initiatives. You will maintain donor records, assist with event planning, and conduct research to identify community partners. This role involves collaborating with the Development Team to create reports and materials while engaging in outreach activities.
What you'll do#
- Assist with community engagement, including tabling events and informational presentations.
- Manage and update the donor database while maintaining confidentiality.
- Handle donor communications such as phone calls, emails, and thank-you letters.
- Prepare and send tax receipts.
- Support the organization and promotion of seasonal fundraising efforts.
- Assist with event planning, communication, and setup for donor appreciation events.
- Research prospective donors and community partnering opportunities.
- Secure in-kind donations for program needs and events.
- Distribute outreach materials throughout the community.
What you'll need#
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research skills and the ability to summarize information from various sources.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Willingness to learn Bloomerang donor software.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for travel to community partner or Safe Harbor facilities.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.
- Public speaking experience and Canva skills are a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Greenville, South Carolina.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Commitment: Minimum of 4 hours per week during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm), plus occasional evening and weekend hours.
- Modality: This is an on-site, unpaid internship.
- Travel: Occasional travel is required to locations in Greenville, Oconee, Anderson, or Pickens Counties.
