About the role#
As a Turbomachinery Intern, you will join the propulsion team at our Long Beach site. You will participate in the development and design of turbopump assemblies for our rocket engines. This role involves working directly with the team responsible for the full design and test lifecycle of fuel and LOX pumps.
What you'll do#
- Support CAD modeling and update engineering drawings.
- Perform data reviews and conduct analysis activities.
- Apply engineering concepts to solve real technical challenges.
- Work closely with your mentor and other department staff.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with supervisors for feedback and learning.
- Participate in tech talks and connect with other interns and employees.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor, master, or doctorate program in aerospace, aeronautical, astronautical, thermal, or mechanical engineering, or physics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, lab work, or team projects.
- Preferred: A GPA of 3.5 or above and 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Preferred: Experience with CAD/CAM software like Solidworks, Catia, or NX.
- Preferred: Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Preferred: Experience with ANSYS, MATLAB, or Python.
- Preferred: Background in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, turbomachinery, aerodynamics, or compressible flow.
- Preferred: Hands-on experience with hardware and basic understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DFM).

- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Duration: Minimum of 12 consecutive weeks beginning in January, February, or March 2027.
- Compensation: Paid internship.
