About the role#
As a Systems Engineering Intern, you will support the Space Systems Division in the development of the Assembly Integration and Test sequence. You will act as the main communication node for design development and issue resolution on satellites. This role involves working closely with mentors and other department employees to apply engineering concepts to real challenges.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of the Assembly Integration and Test sequence.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for design development and issue resolution.
- Collaborate across teams to deliver results.
- Attend frequent 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors for progress updates and learning.
- Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve technical challenges.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal and team projects.
- Preferred: A GPA of 3.5 or above.
- Preferred: 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Preferred: Experience working with spacecraft or test hardware.
- Preferred: Experience developing and running test scripts for space hardware.
- Preferred: Experience debugging hardware issues on development hardware.
Location & details#
- Location: Long Beach, California.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Commitment: Full-time, on-site for a minimum of 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.
- Compensation: $28.00 USD per hour.
