About the role#
As an R&D Engineering Intern, you will support the team in developing a process to deposit phase-change material on solar arrays. This work aims to manage array temperature and improve performance, survivability, and manufacturability for satellite constellations and other programs. You will work on-site in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for a full-time term during Winter 2027.

- Apply engineering and industry concepts to solve real technical challenges.
- Work closely with your mentor and other employees to grow your skills.
- Attend regular 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors to provide progress updates.
- Participate in tech talks and connect with other interns through social and professional events.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s, master's, or doctorate program in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics.
- At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
- A GPA of 3.0 or above.
- At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal projects.
- Ability to lead development projects without supervision and collaborate across teams.
- Comfort working in ambiguous environments.
Preferred qualifications include:
- A GPA of 3.5 or above.
- 6+ months of applied engineering experience.
- Knowledge of the laws of thermodynamics, latent heat, and the optical properties of materials.
Location & details#
- Location: Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- Term: Winter 2027 (minimum 12 consecutive weeks beginning January, February, or March).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $20.00 USD hourly.
- Relocation: A stipend may be available to subsidize costs.
