    About the role#

    As an Optical Engineering Intern, you will support the Optical Team in Tucson, Arizona. You will work on building test setups, running experiments, and analyzing data. This role involves working alongside mentors and other employees to apply your engineering knowledge to real challenges. You will provide regular progress updates and meet with supervisors to discuss your work.

    What you'll do#

    • Build test setups for optical projects.
    • Run experiments and analyze the resulting data.
    • Apply engineering concepts to solve technical challenges.
    • Attend 1:1 meetings with mentors and supervisors.
    • Participate in team events and tech talks.

    What you'll need#

    • Enrollment in a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate program in engineering, physics, or mathematics.
    • At least one semester of school remaining after the internship.
    • A GPA of 3.0 or above.
    • At least 3 months of applied engineering experience, including internships, laboratory work, or personal projects.
    • Ability to work full-time on-site for at least 12 consecutive weeks starting in May or June 2027.

    Preferred qualifications include:

    • A GPA of 3.5 or above.
    • 6 or more months of applied engineering experience.
    • Experience with Python.
    • Experience with computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM).
    • Familiarity with optical systems or imaging sensors.

    Location & details#

    • Location: Tucson, Arizona.
    • Term: Summer 2027.
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: $25.00 per hour.
    • Relocation: A stipend may be available to subsidize relocation costs.
