About the role#
This co-op position joins the Viral Production Core within Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development. You will contribute to the development of upstream and downstream processes used to produce and purify adeno-associated virus (AAV) for gene therapy programs. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site in Tarrytown, New York.
What you'll do#
- Support the development of upstream and downstream processes for AAV production and purification.
- Optimize cell culture conditions to improve viral production.
- Develop high-throughput purification workflows for viral vectors.
- Build models to predict and improve separation performance.
- Conduct wet-lab experiments and analyze the resulting data.
- Collaborate with scientists across upstream and downstream teams.
- Document experimental procedures and results.
- Present progress and findings to the broader team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology.
- You must be returning to school the semester following the position or graduating after the position.
- Ability to commit to 40 hours per week.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership in campus activities, clubs, sports, or community work is preferred.
