About the role#
The Quantum technologies intern joins the Innovation Group to explore how quantum technologies can augment finance capabilities. You will work within a small team to determine the applicability of various quantum fields to the financial sector. This role is suited for those interested in the intersection of quantum tech and finance who are self-driven and ready to contribute to new research.
What you'll do#
- Participate in experiments and theory development to build proof of concepts for financial applications of quantum technology.
- Develop algorithms, protocols, sensors, or networking techniques based on your specific skill set.
- Research and determine successful applications for quantum technologies within finance.
- Benchmark performance and document research findings and outcomes.
- Collaborate with external vendors and university partners on research initiatives.
- Support the broader Innovation team as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at a Canadian post-secondary institution with a focus on Math in Computer Science (Quantum Information), or an MScAC in Quantum Computing or equivalent.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Creative and analytical thinking abilities.
- Self-driven nature and the ability to work in a demanding environment.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of programming and scripting languages, specifically Python.
- Understanding of IT standards and methodologies like SDLC and PMF.
- Knowledge of business analysis processes including requirements gathering, documentation, and use cases.
