About the role#
Structural Systems engineers manage load, deflection, and stress analysis for gas turbine engines and sub-systems. This work spans from the initial concept phase through certification and field service. You will join one of our three main sub-disciplines: Structural Integration, Engine Impact Dynamics, or ECN Stress Analysis.
What you'll do#
- Perform load, deflection, stress, and dynamic analysis using Ansys WB, Nastran, Hypermesh, or LS/Dyna.
- Plan engine and rig tests, including defining instrumentation requirements, test sequences, and data evaluation.
- Conduct LCF and HCF lifing of ECN hardware.
- Perform thermal analysis, including transient fire attack analysis.
- Develop full engine system level models.
- Complete stress analysis of composite aerostructures.
- Act as a technical focal point to support engineering work performed offshore.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Canadian university throughout the internship.
- Completion of at least 2 academic years (4 semesters) toward a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- Eligibility to work in Canada.
- Practical mechanical aptitude and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
- Programming skills in Python to automate data pre and post-processing.
- Ability to work with a global team.
- Knowledge of load, stress, and fatigue life analysis for metallic and composite structures.
- An appreciation of gas turbine static and rotating structures.

- Role: Structural Systems Intern
- Term: Fall 2027 (September 2027 to August 2028)
- Location: Mississauga, Ontario (On-site)
- Modality: Full-time, Monday to Friday
- Compensation: 23.70 to 34.50 CAD per hour
- Requirements: Must be able to work on-site and pass a criminal background check and controlled goods clearances.
