About the role#
This is a full-time Software Engineering Internship for Summer 2027 based in Fort Wayne, Indiana. You will join our Battle Management Software Department to support the development and testing of aircraft embedded software. This position requires U.S. citizenship, as you must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance.
What you'll do#
- Support the full software development life cycle for aircraft embedded applications, including mission-critical systems.
- Collaborate with software and systems engineers to design solutions for complex technical integration problems.
- Assist with both new and legacy military and commercial programs from initial concept and requirements through design, integration, and testing.
- Work within a multi-disciplined team environment on a daily basis.
- Address challenges related to avionics systems, including navigation, displays, and mission planning.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
- Actively enrolled in your degree program through the completion of the internship.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the internship.
- Programming experience in one or more languages such as C, C++, C#, Ada, or Python.
- Experience with software life-cycle stages, such as requirements, design, development, integration, and test.
- Proficiency in developing software within a Windows environment.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages like Shell, Perl, or Python.
- Strong analytical skills and an understanding of software systems design and management.
