About the role#
Raytheon Technologies is seeking a Software Engineering Co-op for the Summer and Fall 2027 terms. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Students are expected to take a semester off from coursework to fully engage in this working mentorship opportunity.
What you'll do#
As a member of the Tactical Communications team, you will contribute to software-defined tactical radio platforms, advanced networking solutions, and cryptographic systems. Your responsibilities include:
- Developing embedded software, networking, and communication products.
- Collaborating with engineers across multiple disciplines throughout the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, and verification.
- Participating in new software initiatives.
- Supporting team members and contributing to decisions that impact project cost, schedule, and technical performance.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
- Completion of at least 60 credit hours by the start of the co-op.
- U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Active U.S. Department of Defense clearance.
- Experience with C/C++, Rust, or Python.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems.
- Familiarity with embedded software development and Linux development environments.
- Prior internship, co-op, or work experience at RTX.
