About the role#
Quantum Signal AI is hiring a Mechatronics Engineering Intern for the summer of 2027. You will work in an R&D environment to design, build, test, and support mechanical and electronic systems. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in Saline, Michigan. We do not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
What you'll do#
- Use CAD software to design mounts and mechanisms for electromechanical systems.
- Build, assemble, and integrate prototype and production hardware.
- Troubleshoot systems and identify ways to improve them.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, and research engineers.
- Participate in design reviews and team problem solving.
- Perform electrical tasks like soldering, crimping, and wiring.
- Create documentation for designs, testing, and engineering processes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related program with at least sophomore standing.
- Experience with CAD software such as Fusion 360, Catia, or SolidWorks.
- Hands-on experience from coursework, clubs, projects, or previous work.
- A strong grasp of core mechanical engineering principles.
- Ability to troubleshoot and find practical solutions.
- Motivation to learn and accept feedback.
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks like bending, reaching, and standing for extended periods.

- Compensation begins at $27.00 per hour.
