About the role#
The Research and Development department at PPL Corporation seeks engineering students for an internship starting in January 2027. We focus on clean energy technologies including wind, solar, energy storage, green hydrogen, and carbon capture. This role offers exposure to R&D projects across our utility operations. You will work part time during the school semester and full time during the summer months. This is a paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Plan and control all activities to ensure an accident-free workplace.
- Use engineering and scientific principles to plan projects, collect data, and write reports.
- Gather, correlate, and analyze data using established procedures.
- Coordinate research project results with business units and summarize findings for management.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and suggest new methods.
- Perform engineering assignments involving calculations, tests, and analysis.
- Complete other duties as assigned by management.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Industrial, or Aerospace Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- A minimum GPA of 3.50.
- Availability to work part time during the school year and full time during the summer.
Location & details#
- The position is on-site in Lexington, KY, Louisville, KY, Allentown, PA, or Johnston, RI.
- Summer work may require travel to various project sites, with all travel expenses covered.
