About the role#
The PPL Research and Development department is seeking PhD Engineering students to contribute to clean energy projects. This internship focuses on areas including renewable energy, energy storage, green hydrogen, sustainability, and carbon capture. Interns will work on-site and may travel to various locations to support R&D initiatives. This position is paid and offers the potential for a transition to full-time employment upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Plan and control all activities to maintain an accident-free workplace.
- Apply engineering and scientific principles to plan projects, collect data, and perform analysis.
- Gather and correlate data using established procedures.
- Coordinate research project results and prepare summaries for management.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and suggest new methods.
- Perform detailed engineering assignments, including calculations and tests.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental, Industrial, Aerospace, or Biomedical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
- A minimum 3.00 GPA.
- Ability to work part-time during the school semester and full-time during the Summer 2026 semester.
