About the role#
As a Junior Instructor, you will support our Ski & Ride School team while creating welcoming and inclusive experiences for our youngest guests. This role is designed for high school students aged 15 to 17 who are interested in developing their skiing or riding skills while working in a support capacity. You will work both indoors and outdoors to ensure our youth programs run smoothly.
What you'll do#
- Provide support for youth lessons and children's programs.
- Assist with equipment preparation and maintain the cleanliness of the Children's Center.
- Supervise lunch periods and escort children to their classes.
- Ride chairlifts with students and assist with their daily needs.
- Collaborate with the Ski & Ride School team on teaching and non-teaching duties.
- Attend ongoing, free ski and snowboard training to develop your personal skills.
- Participate in the Sustainable Transportation Program to help minimize environmental impact.
What you'll need#
- You must be 15 to 17 years old.
- A genuine desire to work with children ages 4 to 6.
- The ability to ski or ride well, combined with a willingness to improve your own technique.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to access schedules and notices electronically.
- Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust with children.
- The ability to pass a background check.
- You must obtain your Junior Instructor certification from PSIA-AASI by January 1, 2027.
- Previous experience in teaching, coaching, mentoring, or customer service is preferred.
Location & details#
- This position is located on-site in Nederland, Colorado.
- This is a full-time, seasonal role.
- You must be available to work weekends and holidays as required by resort operations.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, as well as working in outdoor conditions with varying temperatures.
