About the role#
Testing machine learning pipelines and autonomous agents requires a different approach than testing deterministic software. As an Applied AI Test Engineer intern, you will work with the Applied AI Engineering team to break live AI systems, catch hallucinations, and ship resilient test automation. You will report to a Senior SDET and contribute to critical initiatives that power travel pricing and partner commerce.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain automated test suites for production machine learning pipelines and agentic AI systems.
- Test model-serving endpoints and validate data schemas.
- Assert against non-deterministic agent workflows.
- Develop Python utilities to stress-test edge cases before code ships.
- Triage complex failures and verify fallback paths.
What you'll need#
- Ability to learn unfamiliar systems and complex codebases quickly.
- Hands-on experience designing, writing, and maintaining automated tests.
- Strong understanding of test case design, defect tracking, and regression prevention.
- Clean, functional Python skills for test automation and scripting.
- Experience building utilities, data-setup scripts, or running API tests with tools like pytest or Postman.
- Understanding that machine learning models and AI agents fail differently than traditional code.
- Experience testing data contracts, pipeline reproducibility, and edge cases.
- Experience using coding assistants and LLMs to generate test scaffolding, write scripts, or inspect errors.
Location & details#
- Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time internship.
- Majors: Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Term: Rolling.
