About the role#
As an Applied AI Engineer Intern, you will work with a senior mentor to build and operate production inference services. These services power machine learning across our partner ecosystem in real time. You will move models out of notebooks and into production Python services that scale while meeting strict latency requirements.
What you'll do#
- Build and operate production inference services that serve machine learning models in real time.
- Write clean, low-latency Python services using FastAPI.
- Configure cloud infrastructure on AWS.
- Build pipelines and caching layers to maintain fast response times.
- Use AI-assisted tools to explore solutions, build prototypes, and generate code.
- Audit and refine AI-generated output to ensure it meets production standards.
- Write endpoint logic and integration tests for live systems.
What you'll need#
- Ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases and complex architectures.
- Proficiency in writing clean, readable Python and building web services with FastAPI.
- Understanding of model inference logic, input and output contracts, and latency constraints.
- Commitment to testing as an integral part of development, including unit and integration tests.
- Comfort with version control and terminal workflows.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS, containerized deployments, and streaming or caching components.
- Experience using AI tools to build and test software while maintaining code quality and reliability.
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
