Intern - Finance & Risk Management

About the role#

The Pima County Department of Finance & Risk Management is seeking an intern for the Grants Finance Division. This role provides hands-on experience in public sector finance, offering insight into the full lifecycle of grant financial management, budgeting, and compliance. You will work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

What you'll do#

• Support grant financial activities across various County departments.
• Assist with data extraction and analysis using Excel and other financial systems.
• Gain exposure to grant budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance support processes.
• Perform a variety of administrative, operational, or technical tasks as assigned by the department.

What you'll need#

• Current status as a sophomore, junior, or senior, or recent graduate from an accredited college or university.
• Academic background in accounting, finance, business analytics, or a closely related field.
• Strong analytical skills and a demonstrated interest in public sector finance and grant administration.
• Detail-oriented approach to tasks and data management.
• Familiarity with financial systems and proficiency in Excel.

• Location: Tucson, Arizona.
• Modality: This is an on-site, in-office position.
• Compensation: $17.04 - $23.02 per hour.
• Status: This is a paid, unclassified internship.
