About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience within the safety and occupational health team. You will work on-site to identify safety gaps and improve process efficiency. The program focuses on professional growth and exploring career paths within the food supply chain.
What you'll do#
- Conduct hazard and risk assessments and perform regular plant safety inspections.
- Investigate accidents and track corrective actions.
- Assist in managing safety programs, including exposure control, hazard communication, respiratory protection, and hearing conservation.
- Prepare and submit safety reports to management.
- Help with Workers Compensation and safety committees.
- Participate in safety training sessions and promote safety awareness.
- Ensure compliance with safety laws and company policies.
- Help set standards for personal protective equipment and machine guarding.
- Support ergonomics program development and review new or modified equipment for safety.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a four-year university or pursuit of a bachelor degree.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs or more.
Location & details#
- Location: Russellville, Alabama.
- Terms: Fall 2026, Winter 2027, and Summer 2027.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $22 per hour with a $2,500 relocation stipend.
- Employment: This is a paid position. Summer terms are full-time.
