Intern - Software Test Engineer (Summer 2026)

About the role#

Persistent Systems is seeking a Software Test Engineer Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This role focuses on ensuring that Wave Relay products meet both customer requirements and internal quality standards through rigorous testing and analysis.

What you'll do#

• Test software development and equipment for the Wave Relay system.
• Develop and implement low-level software and hardware, including device drivers, Linux kernel modules, and network stack development.
• Integrate various systems, sensors, and components with the Wave Relay network.
• Support in-house and field engineering activities, including travel to customer sites.
• Write technical proposals, test plans, and procedure reports.
• Build and maintain test platforms to facilitate repeatable and efficient software testing.
• Automate tests through scripting and drive process improvements to enhance data quality.

What you'll need#

• Working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience building software test plans, including regression, functional, performance, and stress testing.
• Knowledge of wireless communication and networking systems.
• Ability to obtain or possess a US security clearance.
• Experience with process improvement and generating test result reports.
• Preferred: Experience with SQL database queries, Cisco and enterprise networking, or ISO9001:2008 quality systems.
