About the role#
Performance Contracting, Inc. (PCI) is seeking undergraduate students for a full-time Associate Project Engineer internship during the summer of 2027. This program provides hands-on experience in the specialty construction industry. You will work with a dedicated mentor to complete a structured activity checklist, submit weekly project recaps, and gain insight into daily operations. This is a paid position that includes relocation reimbursement and the option for corporate housing.
What you'll do#
- Assist with quantity take-offs and prepare bid analysis.
- Write detailed proposals and attend pre-bid walk-throughs.
- Manage project labor, material handling, equipment, and subcontractors.
- Collaborate with owners, architects, engineers, and construction managers.
- Perform financial job-cost analysis and track material costs.
- Maintain project documentation and correspondence.
- Learn to administer the corporate safety program and understand equipment utilization.
- Demonstrate project scheduling techniques.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Construction Management, Construction Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated baseline construction knowledge through work experience or at least two years of relevant academic curriculum.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to temporarily relocate for the assignment.
- Preferred: Experience with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or On-Screen Takeoff.
