About the role#
Performance Contracting, Inc. is hiring undergraduate students for a Summer 2027 internship. This program offers hands-on experience in the specialty construction industry. You will work with a dedicated mentor who guides you through an activities checklist designed to build your management skills. You will also submit weekly recaps to track your progress and learning.
What you'll do#
- Write detailed proposals and assist with quantity take-offs.
- Prepare bid analysis and review.
- Demonstrate project scheduling and attend pre-bid walk-throughs.
- Manage subcontractors, materials, and equipment.
- Collaborate with owners, construction managers, architects, and engineers.
- Maintain project documentation and correspondence.
- Learn the management process for project labor control and material handling.
- Understand financial job cost analysis and specialized equipment use.
- Learn the administration of the corporate safety program.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree program for Construction Management, Construction Science, or a comparable field.
- Baseline construction knowledge from work experience or completion of a second-year curriculum.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
- Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Critical-thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Basic knowledge of Bluebeam, AutoCAD, or On-Screen Takeoff is preferred.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to relocate temporarily for the assignment.
