About the role#
This co-op position supports the County of San Diego contract from January 2027 to August 2027. You will work 40 hours per week in a hybrid capacity based in San Diego, California. You will join Peraton professionals to modernize County services and reduce the environmental impact of local technology infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Measure and reduce the environmental impact of County technology.
- Support emissions reporting and assess vendor sustainability.
- Analyze the energy footprint of AI workloads.
- Build dashboards to track progress toward climate goals.
- Apply AI to software design, development, and delivery processes.
What you'll need#
- US Citizenship.
- A high school diploma and some advanced level training.
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Data Science, or a related field.
- Completed coursework in greenhouse gas accounting, climate policy, or sustainability metrics.
- Data analysis skills using Excel or Python.
- Familiarity with the GHG Protocol, including Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions.
- Knowledge of California climate disclosure policy.
- Experience with dashboard tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
- Interest in the environmental impact of AI and cloud computing.

- Compensation: $28 to $38 per hour.
