About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will join the team supporting the County of San Diego contract. You will work alongside professionals to modernize technology that supports public health, social services, and public safety. This role is hybrid and based in San Diego.
What you'll do#
- Support the County of San Diego contract by working with senior architects.
- Design cloud and AI solutions for County services.
- Create system diagrams, architecture patterns, and AWS-based designs under the AI-DLC framework.
- Observe the planning process for enterprise systems before development begins.
- Apply AI to how software is designed, built, and delivered.
What you'll need#
- US Citizenship.
- A high school diploma and some advanced level training.
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Upper-level students are preferred.
- Understanding of software design and cloud computing fundamentals.
- Ability to create technical diagrams and explain design decisions.
- Familiarity with architecture patterns like microservices, serverless, or event-driven design is a plus.
- Exposure to AI-DLC, infrastructure as code, or AWS AI services is helpful.
- An AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect Associate certification is preferred.
- Prior experience in a software development internship.

- Location: San Diego, California.
- Work Modality: Hybrid.
- Duration: 10 weeks, Summer 2027.
- Compensation: $28 to $38 per hour.
