Safety Intern

About the role#

The Safety Intern will join the Safety Service Unit within the Project Delivery & Technical Excellence Division. Reporting to the Director of Process Safety, this role supports the enterprise-wide occupational health, process safety, and emergency management programs. The position is a 16-month internship based in Calgary.

What you'll do#

• Provide end-to-end process safety support, including leading safety data analytics and KPIs.
• Manage and participate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC) processes.
• Deliver process safety engineering support to operations and contribute to the improvement of safety systems, standards, and digital workflows.
• Utilize software tools such as Microsoft Office, PowerBI, MS Power Platform, and AI tools like Copilot/ChatGPT to support daily team activities.
• Uphold the "Zero by Choice" safety culture by adhering to all Life Saving Rules.
• Collaborate in an equitable and inclusive environment while demonstrating company values of being safe, trustworthy, respectful, collaborative, and entrepreneurial.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Chemical or Mechanical engineering program, with 3rd year completed by May 2026.
• Commitment to return to school following the completion of the work term.
• Ability to commit to the full 16-month duration of the internship.
• Willingness and ability to travel to field locations for multiple-day trips.
• Demonstrated reliability, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn in a structured professional environment.

• Location: Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
• Term: Fall 2026 start (16-month duration).
• Work Modality: Hybrid.
• Employment Type: Full-time, paid.
• Note: Candidates must reside within 100 km of Calgary and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
