About the role#
This is a full-time summer internship with the investment division at Pacific Life. You will join the team in Newport Beach, California, for the summer of 2027. This program serves as a pipeline for early-career opportunities and includes professional development, executive mentorship, and networking.
What you'll do#
- Partner with Public Bond Investment professionals to analyze fixed income opportunities for the company General Account.
- Conduct fundamental credit research by evaluating company performance, financials, industry trends, capital structures, relative value, and investment risks.
- Present your findings and investment recommendations at the end of the summer.
- Observe the dynamics of portfolio management and gain hands-on experience in investment decision-making.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a similar field.
- A graduation date of December 2027 or May/June 2028.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex subjects clearly.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and pay close attention to detail.
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Understanding of global capital markets and some experience with fixed income analysis.
- It is helpful to have progress toward the CFA, involvement in a student investment fund, or experience using Bloomberg terminals and data.
