About the role#
The Law Library Student Circulation Assistant provides coverage at the circulation desk. This position involves direct interaction with visitors and supports the daily operations of the library.
What you'll do#
- Greet and assist library patrons.
- Answer questions regarding library procedures and operating hours.
- Check books in and out for patrons.
- Provide assistance with printing and scanning equipment.
- Refer complex reference questions to Law Library Reference Librarians.
- Open and close the library facility.
- Answer incoming phone calls.
What you'll need#
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Reliability and patience when interacting with visitors.
- Discretion when handling confidential information.
- Experience with legal materials is preferred.
- Prior library work experience is a plus.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills.
Location & details#
- This role is located in White Plains, New York.
- The position is on-site.
- This is a paid student position.
- Hours are limited to 20 hours per week during school sessions and up to 35 hours per week during breaks.
- This role is open to students majoring in History, English, Communications, Journalism, Philosophy, or Political Science.
