About the role#
Ovintiv is hiring Geology and Geoscience interns for the summer of 2027. You will work alongside industry experts in multidisciplinary teams that include engineers, geophysicists, petrophysicists, and data scientists. This role provides exposure to the full scope of oil and gas resource plays through hands-on projects. Interns are placed into specific roles focused on exploration, reservoir characterization, or development operations.
What you'll do#
- Evaluate new reservoirs, plays, basins, and technologies.
- Analyze known reservoirs by mapping geometry and properties, building models, and determining parameters for productivity and economics.
- Estimate hydrocarbon volumes and extend the limits of existing fields.
- Create well plans and define data acquisition requirements.
- Manage geological operations during drilling and geosteer horizontal wells.
- Share progress updates with stakeholders and participate in completion design.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Geoscience graduate degree program.
- Status as a full-time student through December 2027.
- Availability to work full-time from May 2027 through August 2027.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- This is an on-site position based in Denver, Colorado, or The Woodlands, Texas.
- The internship is a paid, full-time role.
