About the role#
As a Test & Development Engineering Intern at JLG, you will work with engineering teams on projects ranging from simple tasks to complex analytical assignments. This role is full-time and on-site in Orrville, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Design, model, and test new mechanical systems for JLG equipment.
- Research and execute continuous improvement requests to support manufacturing, supply chain, and operations.
- Prepare and review vehicle component layouts using CAD software.
- Create and manage Engineering Change Notices in the PLM system.
- Update bills of materials in the PDM system to reflect product changes.
- Provide technical assistance on the assembly floor during prototype, pilot, or production builds.
- Generate engineering calculations for weight distribution, stress analysis, and performance estimations.
- Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to solve technical problems.
- Perform or assist in the testing of complete vehicles and components.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for mechanical engineering or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in mechanical design.
- Experience with CAD systems such as Creo Parametric, Pro-E, or CATIA.
- Understanding of basic steel and sheet metal fabrication principles.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and equipment.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Previous internship or work-related experience.
- Participation in extracurricular engineering activities, such as SAE teams.
