About the role#
As an NPD Engineering Intern at JLG, you will join the Scissor NPD Engineering team. You will work alongside experienced engineers on projects ranging from simple tasks to complex analytical assignments. This is a full-time, rolling internship position.
What you'll do#
- Design, model, and test mechanical systems for JLG equipment.
- Research and execute continuous improvement requests to support manufacturing, supply chain, and customer feedback.
- Use CAD software like Creo Parametric to prepare and review vehicle component layouts with global engineering teams.
- Manage Engineering Change Notices in the PLM system and update bills of materials in the PDM system.
- Provide technical assistance on the assembly floor during prototype, pilot, or production builds.
- Calculate weight distribution, stress analysis, and performance estimations.
- Consult with suppliers, customers, and internal departments to solve technical problems.
- Assist in the testing of complete vehicles and individual components.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's degree program for mechanical engineering or a related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in mechanical design.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Previous internship or work-related experience.
- Experience with extracurricular activities such as SAE teams.
- Understanding of basic steel and sheet metal fabrication principles.
- Knowledge of the construction industry and related equipment.
- Experience with CAD systems like Creo Parametric, Pro-E, or CATIA is a plus.

- This role is based on-site in Frederick, Maryland.
- The position is full-time and paid.
