About the role#
Join the Autonomous Vehicle Applied Research team to advance safe autonomy through generative world models and synthetic data. You will work alongside researchers and engineers to develop models that understand, simulate, and reason about complex driving environments. This role focuses on creating generative data engines, studying data coverage, and testing how synthetic data improves autonomous vehicle performance.
What you'll do#
- Research and prototype generative world models, traffic world models, and synthetic-data generation methods.
- Develop traffic world models that capture multi-agent interactions and reactive behaviors.
- Create methods for controllable generation of diverse, interactive, and safety-critical driving scenarios.
- Explore how generative video models, multimodal foundation models, and active learning improve training-data quality.
- Design experiments to measure how generated data affects model robustness and generalization.
- Translate machine learning advances into practical approaches for autonomous driving.
- Collaborate with teams across the company on research prototypes and experimental systems.
- Contribute to high-impact research publications and open research efforts.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Research experience in deep learning, computer vision, generative modeling, multimodal learning, or robotics.
- Strong foundations in machine learning and hands-on experience evaluating neural-network models.
- Proficiency in Python and experience with modern deep learning frameworks.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a research environment with open-ended problems.
