About the role#
NVIDIA is looking for PhD candidates to join the robotics team for a summer internship. You will work within the Seattle Robotics Lab, which focuses on both fundamental and applied research across the full robotics stack. This includes perception, planning, control, reinforcement learning, and foundation models. Interns contribute to ongoing projects or pursue independent research that aligns with our internal goals.
What you'll do#
- Develop algorithms, foundation models, and methods for robotic manipulation and loco-manipulation.
- Integrate these methods into real-world systems, including mobile manipulators, humanoid robots, and collaborative arms.
- Collaborate on multi-person research projects across the robotics and machine learning stack.
- Share your findings with the academic community through publications, conferences, workshops, or code releases.
- Build AI agents to speed up research and engineering tasks while maintaining code quality and security.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a PhD program related to Robotics, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
- A strong record of first-author publications in top robotics and AI conferences or journals.
- Proficiency in Python and fluency in deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or JAX.
- Experience with robotics frameworks such as ROS2 and physics simulation tools like Isaac Sim, Isaac Lab, Newton, or MuJoCo.
- Familiarity with C++, CUDA, and Warp.
- Experience with AI coding agents, debugging physics simulators, and maintaining complex robotics hardware.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and communicate technical concepts clearly.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, on-site internship for Summer 2027.
- Locations include Seattle, Washington, and Santa Clara, California.
- The hourly pay range is 38 USD to 94 USD, depending on experience and location.
- This position is paid and includes intern benefits.
