About the role#
NVIDIA is looking for PhD Research Interns to join the Data-Driven AI for Robotics group. You will focus on learning embodied skills from large-scale human data. The goal is to develop AI systems that capture, understand, and reproduce complex human motion and interaction skills for both physical and digital embodiments, including humanoid robots and animated characters. You will work on the full research stack, from reconstructing human motion from video to training physically grounded controllers for robots.
What you'll do#
- Create and implement AI algorithms that turn human data into controllable motion and interaction skills.
- Develop training and inference pipelines for motion reconstruction, generation, retargeting, and character or robot control.
- Build methods that transfer human skills to humanoid robots, focusing on whole-body loco-manipulation and dexterous manipulation.
- Work closely with your mentor and collaborate with research and product teams.
- Publish your research findings at major computer vision, machine learning, graphics, or robotics conferences.
- Partner with product teams to support the technology transfer of your work.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- Proficiency in using coding agents for research prototyping and development.
- Engineering skills in rapid prototyping and developing model-training and simulation frameworks like PyTorch, Isaac Lab, or MuJoCo.
- Experience working with large-scale machine learning systems and compute infrastructure.
- A research track record with at least one publication at a leading venue such as CVPR, ICCV, SIGGRAPH, or CoRL.
- Background in areas such as human motion modeling, character animation, reinforcement or imitation learning, or differentiable physics simulation is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Santa Clara, California
- Employment: Full time
- Modality: On-site
- Term: Rolling
