The Scientist Intern will support the SA Lab staff in the analysis of samples, including CVD coated products, plant trial samples, and customer-generated samples. This role requires flexibility and the ability to multitask while operating specialized laboratory equipment. The intern will assist in preparing samples, documenting information, and maintaining organized storage for future retrieval.
What you'll do#
- Independently operate specialized laboratory equipment, including the Lambda 1050 Spectrophotometer, Haze Gard, Colorsphere, FTIR, Four Point Probe, and Profilometer.
- Prepare samples for analysis and follow established standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols, including handling chemicals according to SDS standards.
- Maintain accurate, detailed records and laboratory notebooks in compliance with ISO9001:2000 standards.
- Analyze coating defects submitted by Manufacturing or Sales & Marketing teams.
- Participate in weekly MSC analysis and characterization of CVD coated glass samples.
- Support the cold end operations as requested by laboratory personnel.
- Maintain 5S standards within the laboratory environment.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of an undergraduate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
- Demonstrated hands-on technical skills and a strong aptitude for analytical problem-solving.
- Ability to work effectively within team environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- A demonstrated commitment to safe and ethical work practices.
- Experience in an industrial laboratory or handling hazardous chemicals is a plus.
