About the role#
Northrop Grumman is seeking a Survivability Engineer for a Fall 2027 Co-Op based in El Segundo, California. This role offers the opportunity to apply physics and scientific principles to real-world projects. You will gain insight into the full lifecycle of survivable systems, from initial design through sustainment. You may support sub-disciplines including signature design, RF testing, material development, and mission systems integration.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with designers and maintainability engineers to ensure systems meet survivability requirements.
- Develop and integrate technology designed to reduce system detectability.
- Build and analyze virtual models by implementing analytical codes, troubleshooting issues, and performing trend analysis.
- Design, plan, and execute RCS/RF tests, including equipment operation, test setup, and reporting.
- Analyze test results to provide recommendations on materials and system performance.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding material and equipment design, delivery, and testing.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate STEM degree program.
- Expected graduation date after August 2028.
- Ability to work on-site full-time from August 2027 through December 2027.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access.
